Walking in the light involves honesty, obedience, and love. That means
following the example of Christ, walking as He walked when here on earth—
and as He does right now in Heaven.
This has extremely practical applications in our daily lives. For example,
what should a believer do when another believer sins against him? He should
forgive, just as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven them both.
Walking in the light—following the example of Christ—will also affect a home.
Husbands are supposed to love and care for their wives, who, in turn, are to
honor and obey their husbands.
In every area of life our responsibility is to do what Jesus would do. He is
truly the one great example of the kind of life we should live.
Verse for today: “He that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is
righteous” (1 John 3:7).
Also read: 1 John 1:5-8; 2:6; 3:3; 4:11; Ephesians 4:32; 5:1-2, 21-30;
Colossians 3:13.
Action assignment: Rate the “health” of the following areas in your life,
using a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 as “great”:
• work
• church
• personal relationships
• marriage
• home and family life
Are the weaker areas (rated under 5) weak because you are not “walking in
the light”—following Christ’s example of honesty, obedience, and love? Do
one thing today to reflect Christ’s light in each weak area. Ask God to help
you fully walk “in a manner
worthy of the Gospel.”
