Daily Strength Blog

Because He is the sinless, eternal Son of God, and because His was the perfect, or “complete,” sacrifice, Jesus Christ is the “author of eternal salvation” (Hebrews 5:9). No Old Testament priest could offer eternal salvation to anyone, but that is exactly what
we have in Jesus Christ. Through His earthly sufferings, Christ was equipped for His heavenly ministry as our High Priest. He is able to save, keep, and strengthen us.

What do we have to do? Hebrews 5:9 says He is the “author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey.” Once we have put our faith in Jesus Christ, and thus obeyed His call, we experience His eternal salvation. It’s simple, but profound.

Verse for the day: “In You our fathers put their trust; they trusted and You delivered them. They cried to You and were saved; in You they trusted and were not disappointed” (Psalm 22:4-5, NIV).
