Read Romans 8:18–39
We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
As believers we never need faint in times of suffering because we know that God is at work in the world, and that He has a perfect plan for us (vv. 28– 29). God has two purposes in that plan: our good and His glory. Why should we Christians ever be discouraged and frustrated when we already share the glory of God? Our suffering today only guarantees that much more glory when Jesus Christ returns!
There is no condemnation because we share the righteousness of God, and the law cannot condemn us. There is no obligation because we have the Spirit of God, who enables us to overcome the flesh and live for God.
There is no frustration because we share the glory of God, the blessed hope of Christ’s return. There is no separation because we experience the love of Christ (v. 35). We do not need to fear the past, the present, or the future because we are secure in “the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord” (v. 39).
Something to Ponder
Can you truthfully say that you feel no condemnation from God? No frustration? No separation? Which of these areas do you feel needs the most attention?
