Read 1 Corinthians 2:6–10
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”—but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:9–10
Salvation involves all three persons in the Godhead. No one can be saved apart from the Father’s electing grace, the Son’s loving sacrifice, and the Spirit’s ministry of conviction and regeneration. This triune aspect helps us to understand better some of the mysteries of our own salvation. As far as God the Father is concerned, I was saved when He chose me in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4 KJV), but I knew nothing about that the night I was saved!
It was a hidden part of God’s wonderful eternal plan. As far as God the Son is concerned, I was saved when He died for me on the cross. As far as the Spirit is concerned, I was saved on May 12, 1945, at a Youth for Christ rally where I heard Billy Graham (then a young evangelist) preach the gospel. It was then that the Holy Spirit applied the Word to my heart, I believed, and God saved me.
Something to Ponder
In what ways do you observe the activity of each member of the Godhead in regard to your salvation?
