EXODUS 36:1-2 : And Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whom the Lord has put
wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary,
shall do according to all that the Lord has commanded. Then Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and
every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart was stirred, to
come and do the work.
A 38-year-old woman used to go to the movies and pine, “If only I had her looks. “She would listen to
a singer and moan, “If only I had her voice.” Then one day a friend suggested she stop comparing
herself with others and start concentrating on what she did have. The woman remembered that in
high school she had a reputation for being the funniest girl around.
She began to look for ways to use this ability. Before she retired, comedienne Phyllis Diller made
more than a million dollars a year. She wasn’t good-looking |and she had a scratchy voice, but she
used the gift she had. When it was time to construct the tabernacle, God gave to each worker
the ability needed to accomplish the task. |
There were those who worked with animal hides, those who cut and set jewels, those who worked
with metal and many others whom He endowed with special wisdom and understanding. God called
each to do his or her part in creating the tabernacle. By concentrating on the skill God gave them,
they erected a magnificent structure that lasted for hundreds of years.
If you have received Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirit also has given you a spiritual gift. It may not
be one that puts you up front like teaching or preaching or singing in the choir, but your gift is
essential nevertheless.
Don’t worry about the gifts you don’t have; concentrate on the ones you do have. Ask God to help you
use your spiritual gift in the most effective way possible for His glory.
