Trusting Christ is a matter not only of believing, but also of obeying. Part of obeying includes heeding Christ’s Great Commission. In addition, God “commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).
We must never minimize the missionary outreach of the church. Lost souls around the world cannot be saved unless they call upon the Lord Jesus Christ. But they cannot call unless they believe. Faith comes by hearing, so they must hear the message.
How will they hear? A messenger must go to them with the message. But this means that God must call the messenger and the messenger must be sent. What a privilege it is to be one of His messengers and have beautiful feet!
Verse for today: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew
28:18-19, NIV).
More to read: Romans 10:15; Philippians 1:15-18; Psalm 40:9.
Action assignment: List how many missionary groups or missionaries you have supported through prayer, money, letters, and other means. With Bible translators going full speed ahead, it is conceivable that around the year 2000 everyone will have the Bible in his or her own tongue. Still, missionaries will be needed to present the Gospel. What can you do to advance the missionary outreach of the Body of Christ? List three ways.
