Worry is actually wrong thinking (the mind) and wrong feeling (the heart) about circumstances, people, and things. So, if we have a single mind, a submissive mind, and a spiritual mind, we should not have too much trouble with worry.
All we need is something to guard the heart and mind so that worry will not enter. Paul describes the secure mind: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). That word keep is a military term; it means “stand guard, garrison.” (Paul was chained to a soldier, you will remember.)
God gives us regular “examinations” in our daily lives to help us develop our spiritual attitudes. Learning and living go together, and He will give us the grace we need for every demand.
As we practice exercising the right kind of attitudes, we will find deep joy welling up in our hearts—joy inspite of circumstances, people, and things—and joy that defeats worry and fills us with the peace of God.
Verse for today: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).

Action assignment: List the spiritual resources the believer has in Christ as found in Philippians 4. Underline the ones in which you need more development. Then thank God that He makes available every provision you need to eliminate worry from your life.
