The ability to calm your soul and wait before God is one of the most difficult things in the
Christian life. Our old nature is restless. The world around us is frantically in a hurry.
Even some of our Christian friends might suggest that we are “backslidden” because we are not
running to every seminar, listening to every visiting speaker, and attending every religious
meeting. Years ago, Dr. A.W. Tozer suggested that the church might experience revival if we
would cancel all our meetings and just gather for prayer and worship.
God can help us conquer fear if we will learn to worship, walk, and wait; the most difficult of
these is to wait. A restless heart usually leads to a reckless life. All religious activity is not
necessarily ministry. Instead of building us up, it might be tearing us down.
Verse for today: “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. He only is
my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved” (Psalm 62:5-6).
Also read: Jeremiah 14:22; Psalm 25:5; 27:14; 39:7-8; 104:27-28; 145:15-16; Habakkuk 2:3;
Acts 1:4; Galatians 5:5.

Action assignment: The secret of waiting is in the heart. The successful general plans his
strategy and knows exactly when to attack. As you wait before the Lord in worship and walk
with Him daily, He puts strength into your heart. Keep a notebook and plan your strategy for
“waiting on the Lord.”
