Exodus 3:4
So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am. ”
I have a confession to make. I’m a chocoholic. I’ve never met a piece of chocolate I didn’t like. The only thing more enticing than chocolate are those things that claim to be “double chocolate.” This presents alluring options such as Double Dark Chocolate, Double Chocolate Swirl or my favorite, Double Dutch Chocolate. It just goes to prove that some things are so good that you can improve on them only by dou bling what you already have.
God’s call on our lives is also one of those things. As Moses approached to investigate the burning bush that was not consumed (Exodus 3:2-3), God called out to him, “Moses, Moses!” A double call. Moses was left with no doubt in his mind about whom God wanted—it was him!
God also has a double call on our lives. He calls us first to salvation. The apostle Paul said, “whom He called, these He also justified” (Romans 8:30). What a delight to know that our salvation does not rest on our frail efforts but on God’s effective call.
Then He also calls us to service. Ephesians 2:10 declares, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand that we should walk in them.” How marvelous to know that God has a plan for every Christian, including you. You need not wonder if you have a reason for living; God has it all laid out. There is no greater joy than walking in God’s plan for your life.
DON’T SETTLE JUST FOR SALVATION; GOD SAVED YOU FOR SERVICE.
