RUTH 4:18-22
Now this is the genealogy of Perez: Perez begot Hezron; Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot
Amminadab; Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon; Salmon begot Boaz,
and Boaz begot Obed; Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
Scientists in London extracted a DNA sample from the skeleton of a man who supposedly
was a Stone Age hunter-gatherer who lived 9,000 years ago. The specimen was then
compared to DNA samples taken from individuals living in the same area.
Much to his surprise, Adrian Targett, a British school teacher, discovered that his DNA was
almost a perfect match. Researchers are claiming that this is the longest human lineage ever
traced.

Ruth and Boaz may not be able to claim the longest lineage, but they can lay claim to the
most royal one. Their ancestry stretched back to Perez, the son of Judah, the son of Abraham.
It ‘looked forward to such notables as Obed and Jesse and to the greatest king who ever ruled
Israel, David. But it didn’t stop there. Through a multitude of kings and others, the lineage of
Ruth and Boaz can be traced unmistakably to Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
But Ruth and Boaz, with their impressive family tree, are not the only ones who can claim to
be part of this most royal family. Paul wrote that Christ came “to redeem those who were
under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons” (Gal. 4:5).
Every believer is adopted into the royal family through Jesus Christ. The apostle Peter said
we are a “royal priesthood” (1 Pet. 2:9). We are the sons and daughters of God the Father
(Eph.(Rom. 8:17).
If you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are part of the royal family. You are a
child of the King. Be proud of your lineage, and take care of the King’s reputation. Do
nothing that would disgrace the family name. Let your behavior be worthy of the royal
family.

BEING A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL FAMILY BRINGS GREAT PRIVILEGES-
AND GREAT RESPONSIBILIY.
